ABOUT

Deviate the Plan is a hard-hitting rock band from the Tampa Bay, Florida area, built on the belief that breaking away from expectations leads to the most authentic results. Blending heavy guitar-driven hooks, dynamic rhythms, and emotionally charged vocals, the band delivers a modern rock sound that balances raw intensity with strong melodic structure.

Originally formed by Chris Whipple (Vocals & Guitar), Carson Schaller (Bass), and Jake Jansen (Drums), the band expanded its sonic range in 2020 with the addition of James Pooley (Guitar). Pooley’s arrival added depth and texture to the band’s sound, allowing Deviate the Plan to push into heavier, more layered territory.

In March 2023, Deviate the Plan released their debut, full-length album, a defining moment that solidified their place in the modern rock scene. The album featured standout singles “Last Stand” and “Addiction,” tracks that highlighted the band’s ability to combine aggressive riffs, driving rhythms, and emotionally charged lyrics with memorable hooks. These releases helped establish the band’s identity and expanded their reach to a wider audience.

After nearly a decade as a core member, bassist Carson Schaller departed the band in 2025. He was subsequently replaced by Mike Anthony, whose addition brought fresh energy and a renewed dynamic to the lineup while preserving the band’s intensity and chemistry.

Drawing influence from modern rock and hard rock, along with the grit and attitude of classic rock, Deviate the Plan writes music centered on themes of struggle, resilience, and self-determination. Their sound is driven by tight musicianship, powerful songwriting, and an uncompromising edge.

Known for their high-energy and engaging live performances, Deviate the Plan thrives on connection—both among the band members and with their audience. More than just a name, Deviate the Plan represents a mindset: rejecting the expected path, embracing change, and forging forward on their own terms. With an evolving lineup and a growing catalog of music, the band continues to establish itself as a compelling force in modern rock.
